BEHIND THE FACE

Hey there, I’m Hue (pronounced as "Way") Don’t worry, I’ve heard “Hugh” more times than I can count.

People often ask me why I decided to start this food business, especially after going through such a life-changing health journey. And honestly, the only way I can describe it is, food chose me.
​
Food has always been a big part of my life. It’s my comfort, my joy, and my way of connecting with people. I love how something as simple as a meal can bring happiness to someone's day or even just a moment of peace. During one of the hardest times of my life, food gave me something to hold onto. It was one of the few things that could lift my spirits when everything else felt out of reach.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
In 2023, my life turned upside down. I was working full-time as a restaurant manager; strong, independent, and always on the go. Then, out of nowhere, I lost my voice and the ability to walk. I was hospitalized for almost a year, relying on a wheelchair to get around. Even now, it’s hard to believe that actually happened to me.

By 2024, after a year of rehab, I could walk, talk, and start rebuilding my life. Cooking became part of that process. What started as a way to regain a sense of normality, rebuild my confidence and reclaim the independence I had lost. Slowly turned into a journey that gave me the courage to dare dream bigger. I wanted to share my love for Vietnamese food with others, in a way that feels authentic and true to me.

PURPOSE & FULFILMENT
This isn’t just a business to me. It’s given me purpose. It is my reminder that even on the tough days, there’s something worth working towards. Viet Kieu Kitchen has given me a reason to keep pushing forward.

I won’t lie, there are still good days and bad days. But if I could relearn how to walk and talk, I know I can keep growing this little start-up into something meaningful.

For me, food is more than just what’s on the plate. It’s about how it makes you feel. It’s about bringing people together, whether it’s to celebrate something special or just to get through a tough day. That’s the beauty of it, it nourishes not just your body, but your soul.​​

WHAT WE WANT

At Viet Kieu Kitchen, I want to share that same energy with you. Every dish we create is crafted with care, using homemade touches like our chilli sauce, beef meatballs and chicken sausage.
I believe in keeping things as fresh and wholesome as possible by minimizing unnecessary additives. So you can enjoy food that’s packed with flavour and made with heart. It’s not about perfection, but creating meals that feel good to eat and even better to share. I want every bite you take to be as nourishing as it is delicious.
